Hambden Baseball Newsletter
2006
Season
Welcome to The Hambden Baseball League. Winter is almost over and its time for the 2006 season to start. We hope this newsletter will keep you informed about things that are important to you.
First
of all we would like to thank all the coaches, parents, players and everyone
else that helped out last year. Your volunteering is what keeps the league
running.
The
Snack-Shack at the park was a big success last and we hope to have another good
year. This year Marty Komertz will be in charge of stocking and running the
snack shack. This will take a large burden off of the coaches and parents.
Thanks a lot Marty!!
Some
people have been asking where the signup and sponsor money goes. We try to keep
the fees as low as possible however we did have to increase them slightly this
year. The payment of umpires accounts for more than 30% of the fees. 15% of the
fees provide for uniforms, 10% goes for trophies and 10% for insurance. The rest
of the money is used for purchasing new equipment for the league to use. We
purchased a lot of new equipment last year and will continue to replace more as
it is needed.
If
you or someone you know is interested in sponsoring a team, forms are available
on our website at www.hambdenbaseball.com. When you sponsor a team your company
name will be printed on the back of a team’s jersey. Please call or check out
the website for more information. Help out the kids in the community and
advertise for your company at the same time. It’s a win-win situation!
Baseball
practices usually start around mid April, weather permitting. The season usually
begins in May. Your coach will
contact you by mid March to notify you that your child is on his or her team.
The game schedules will be distributed as soon as they are available.
Pictures
will be taken on Saturday, May 20th at the park. Your coach will pass
on more information about specific times for your team when they are available.
The
Hambden Baseball League will once again be marching in the Memorial Day Parade.
Come join us for some fun and a great breakfast at the fire station afterwards.
In
years past each coach was responsible for having a get together at the end of
the year to collect pants and distribute trophies. For the last two years we
have had a league wide trophy day at the end of the year for all teams. We would
like to hear from the parents and coaches on what you would prefer this year.
Please email us at hambdenbball@yahoo.com
or call with your thoughts or with any other questions.
If
you have any questions now or throughout the season, please feel free to contact
one of us or visit our website at www.hambdenbaseball.com.
We look forward to a smooth and successful season. Please remember that baseball
is only a game and is supposed to be fun for the kids, so please abide by all of
the rules in the code of conduct (also available on the website). Thanks a lot
and have a great season!!
